Review of Bitch Slap (2009) by Grant S — 01 Sep 2011
I know I'm not supposed to like this, and giving a semi-positive rating is probably not going to help my movie-rating credibility, but this wasn't too bad.
Plot is so-so, lurching from one implausible, contrived scene to another, but has a good pace, and doesn't ever take itself too seriously.
Clearly meant to be nothing more than B-grade (at best), it has a Tarantinoesque swagger that helps you look past all the deficiencies. You can see the Tarantino influences. Zoe Bell, who starred in Death Proof and was Uma Thurman's stunt double in Kill Bill, was the stunt coordinator for Bitch Slap, and has a minor role, adding another Tarantino link.
A fun movie. This and the fact that the three female leads are stunningly beautiful, make it worth a watch, and a guilty pleasure.
