Review of Birth (2004) by Natasha A — 25 Oct 2008
Despite an absolutely stellar cast, this film was a total bore. While the premise is intriguing, the reality is that this is just a horrible film, that doesn't know what it is. The viewer is left guessing what on earth is actually going on in the mind of many of the characters, because so much is unspoken where explanation is required.
The end didn't come along quickly enough, and when it did, I had already set myself up to accept that it was going to be as lame as the rest of the film. What a waste of 1 hour 40 minutes of my life.
The soundtrack is awful and Kidman should never sport short hair with those ears. There are some truly skin-crawling scenes, most notably when she shares a bath with the 10 year old boy who claims to be a reincarnation of her late husband.
Uncomfortable, unlikeable. Give it a miss.
