Review of Birth (2004) by Matthew J — 02 Feb 2013
Some people may find the premise to be ridiculous or even offensive, but the film treats its subject with reverence and a certain degree of believability. I found it to be mesmerizing and thrilling, and though the ambiguous ending might leave some feeling short-changed, I thought it added to the overall complexity of the situation.
There is a great attention to detail concerning the composition of shots and a fitting soundtrack. It also makes some obvious nods to Rosemary's Baby.
