Review of Birth (2004) by Ashley F — 02 Dec 2009
(5 stars out of 5) Under Jonathan Glazer's control the acting, set decoration, cinematography, & most prominently Alexandre Desplat's score create a mood somewhere between fairy tale & nightmare.
Nicole Kidman puts in an amazingly brave, believable & flawless performance of still-grieving widow who is about to remarry when a 10 year old boy shows up unannounced at her engagement party to declare he is the reincarnated soul of her dead husband.
This melancholy avant-garde mystery/thriller will have you begging for clear cut answers you'll only find when you follow all the clues.
