Review of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) (2020) by Tvjerry — 12 Feb 2020
Margot Robbie was the stand out as Harley Quinn in the 2016 DC Comic film Suicide Squad (my review said that), so they've given her this starring vehicle. It begins after she's been dumped by The Joker.
She goes on a carefree kick-ass spree that includes tracking down a special diamond and the girl who has it. Robbie stays over the top with big aplomb and fun fight choreography. Ewan McGregor plays the villain, but never makes much of the potential to match her over-the-top characterization.
There's plenty of happy and mean-spirited fun in this lively movie, even though the assemblage of the "Birds" doesn't happen til the final scenes. Not a special addition to the DC anthology, but enjoyable enough.
