Review of Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) by Sam O — 08 May 2018
Worst movie I have ever seen period.
A lot of bad movies are funny in how bad they are, others are just lame and un-entertaining. This movie is even worse than all those. It actually makes me angry. This is the only movie I can safely say I HATE.
Probably the worst thing is that this movie is pretentious as hell. From the "artsy" way it was shot, to the characters to even the title. Why the hell did they need to add "unexpected virtue of ignorance" to the title anyway? Just to sound smart or something? The characters are supposed to be "deep" and "introspective" or some crap but they all resemble the same overly anxious, angry, and selfish person that is just generally unlikable. When the movie ends it's ambiguous whether the main guy dies or not. It's all wrapped in metaphors and other lame "deep" artsy crap. I hated the main guy so much at the end of the movie, I really hope he died.
Don't even get me starting on the F**KING DRUMSET THAT PLAYS THE ENTIRE MOVIE. "TssTsTsssTss..." the WHOLE MOVIE!! There is light drumset background noise that will drive you crazy!!!! So in addition to all the characters and pretentiousness that you really begin to hate anyway, they throw in this colossal annoyance.
This movie is horrible and extremely overrated. PLEASE SAVE YOURSELF AND AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!
