Review of Birdman or (The Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) (2014) by Russell W — 22 Feb 2016
Absolutely outstanding work from everyone involved. It's very easy to sit back and enjoy the artistry of what is presented before you. Emmanuel Lubezki made the whole film look as though it were shot in one take.
The performances by every actor are superb. And the direction of Alejandro Iñárritu is matched only by himself. If you don't like this, you don't understand the art of cinema as a visual and immersive medium of storytelling.
