Review of Birdemic 2: The Resurrection (2013) by David P — 24 May 2013
This is a bad, bad movie. But man, I had fun watching it and even more fun after it, reminiscing about all the hilariously bad elements. But if you're watching this movie, you've probably already seen the 1st one and know exactly what you're in for. And it is very much of the same. A lot of people are saying that the director is now aware of how dodgy he is with the first film being unintentionally funny. But I'm not sure. I think he may just be ignorant of all the negative words that are being said about his masterpiece and honestly thinks he is a good filmmaker. I don't know if you can effectively pull off some of the lameness that occurs in this film intentionally. So it takes a good forty five minutes before the birds rise from the dead and attack out heroes. In the meantime we are treated to a story about a struggling movie director casting a struggling actress and falling in love with her. I actually enjoyed this part of the film more, at least there was some thread of a storyline, no matter how thin and how bad the acting is. That's part of the charm. But then the birds attack on the set of their movie and there is no real progression from there. They just seem to go from set to set fighting the birds. There's a funny moment when one of the characters claims that if he makes it through this he is going to write a script about birds attacking. Then another character who happens to be an executive producer says that he will option the script. Gold. Needless to say from there the group fights zombies and cavemen as well as the dreaded birds. And even learn a little about global warming along the way. This movie has everything! It is going to be a long shot to say that this will be playing in any theaters around you, and I doubt your local blockbuster will have this one on the shelves. You're best bet is to watch Birdemic 2 on YouTube or download it. Don't worry, you won't be losing much quality, if any.
2/5.
