Review of Bird on a Wire (1990) by Corey B — 03 Apr 2010
Completely generic 80s action flick that ufortunately doesn't manage to provide any chemistry between Gibson and Hawn. Gibson is basically doing his Lethal Weapon shtick (well, the shtick he had in the less dramatic third and fourth movies), and Hawn screams a lot.
Even the action scenes are primarily routine with one chase after another.
The only time the movie comes to life is during the climax at the zoo which is spectacularly weird. Monkeys fire guns, Gibson is threatened by a tiger, Hawn crosses a precarious rope bridge, and somebody is eaten by piranhas. It's so weird that it at least breaks up the monotony of the film.
