Review of Bird on a Wire (1990) by Simon W — 23 May 2010
This is the type of thing they used to do so well in the 80's and on through the early 90's. The bickering couple on the run in some kind of high concept adventure. Like 'Romancing the Stone'.
It's not exactly original but what it is is clever, fast and fun. That's largly what missing from these types of movies today. They just arn't tight enough. These movies used to follow strict formulas - which as I said before, didn't make them original, but what it did do was make them very satisfying and endlessly rewatchable. That's why there's so many of these types of titles from back then that are still remembered - because of how entertaining they were - and still are.
Great chemistry between the two leads, cool action, a fun set up and a wierd but memorable climax.
