Review of Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk (2016) by Nick J — 19 Nov 2016
I feel like a lot of people missed the point of this movie. This wasn't supposed to be an action movie; nor a blatant satire of post-9/11 culture. It was a reminder of the relationship the American public has with its military and how broken and abusive it is.
There was some occasional acting flubs and awkwardness, but the weight of the story and methodology of looking into Lynn's mind was powerful to make this movie stand out to me. The visuals were a nice touch too, but I'm going to remember this movie for how it made me feel when I left the theater.
