Review of Billy Liar (1963) by Marita L — 10 Mar 2010
British New Wave classic with imagination and a ridiculously charismatic Tom Courtenay and a stunning Julie Christie in her first film. Briefly, the plot revolves around a young man trying to escape a dead-end small town.
Expertly directed by John Schlesinger, but the real standout to me was Denys Coop's cinematography -- he's maybe best known for his visual effects work on Superman, but also shot some real great films including Bunny Lake is Missing.
