Review of Big Trouble in Little China (1986) by Dann M — 26 Sep 2012
I have always loved this movie. As a kid I wanted to be Jack Burton, and as an adult, I still want to be Jack Burton, (although after listening to the commentary on the DVD with John Carpenter and Kurt Russell, I seem to think that Jack is way cooler then they do, I liked that he wasn't always the best, and did some silly things and was cocky as hell, but in the end he did back a lot of it up and he was the guy who actually killed Lopan, so I still stand by my initial assessment from my childhood).
This movie is just flat out cool, it basically has everything you could want in a movie, a funny wisecracking hero, lots of martial arts action, a truck, magic, a love story, a Chinese tour bus, guys flying parallel while having a sword fight, a large funny looking creature, and exploding guy and a fight scene while the hero unknowingly is wearing lipstick.
So yeah, I love this movie.
