Review of Big Stan (2007) by Nancy G — 07 Apr 2009
Rob Schneider stars-in and directs this movie, which seems to have employed most of his living relatives in some capacity or other. Nepotism aside, this film actually manages to add some freshness to the stale prison comedy genre.
Indeed, this movie is actually a pleasant blend of two well-worn story-types: the kung fu flick and the prison movie. Schneider keeps the amusement rolling with some reasonable one-liners and surprisingly well-coordinated fight scenes.
David Carradine is simply himself, but that is more than bizarre enough to keep most audiences engaged.
