Review of Big Momma's House (2000) by Johnny T — 27 Feb 2011

The plot is chaotic, sometimes predictable, and becomes more and more implausible by the minute but the comedy works and because of that we're able to excuse the script's shortcomings. The kind of stupid-funny movie that should only be seen in a crowded theater. When all's said and done, it turns out to be quite sweet-natured. OK. I laughed. So sue me. Even though Lawrence's act is getting repetitive, it's still good enough to make for an amusing time. There's something about a plus-size floral housedress that brings out the best in many male comics, and Lawrence is no exception. It keeps its promise to throw an hour and a half of lively entertainment at audiences.

VERDICT: "Matinée" - (Mixed reaction). These kinds of movies are usually movies that had some good things, but some bad things kept it from being amazing. This rating says to pay matinée prices to see at a theater or buy an ex rental or a cheap price the DVD to own.
