Review of Big Momma's House (2000) by Steve B — 08 Jun 2012
My first initial thoughts even before watching it were positive and wondering if this movie was going to be a sort of combination of 'White Chicks', 'Mrs. Doubtfire' and 'Dumb and Dumber', all of which bring something different to the table and as individual movies I really like or love (depending on which one).
Unfortunately this title didn't live up to what I expected and although slap-stick, amusing and funny it just wasn't really doing it for me and I found the humour and jokes over the top in a way where it's almost forcing you to try and laugh.
I got the story and idea behind it and did giggle a bit too but it was bland, pretty predictable and brilliantly funny. In defence of others I'm sure there are others viewers that split their sides and wet themselves over this.
I'm hoping I rate the sequels higher in the near future.
