Review of Big Game (2014) by Epifania A — 17 Jan 2016
Jalmari Helander's "Big Game" was a pleasant surprise. This made-for-the-big-screen action movie is set in Finland, where it gives us a fairly funny mash up of the usual "POTUS threatened by (fill in the alien-Other gap) but always saved" narrative with a young Finnish boy's coming-of-age story. The talented Samuel L. Jackson (as POTUS) and Onnila Tommila (as young Oskari) work well together, as the unlikely duo who save yet another "God Bless America" day. Some of the dialogue in this adventure movie is just hilarious, e.g.,:
Helicopter Pilot: Are you terrorists?
Terrorist Leader: You certainly look terrified, so I suppose we must be.
