We're at the point where Samuel L. Jackson is in too many films. And the worst part is, he's really just playing himself. In Big Game, it's no different. The film follows a young boy and the President as they keep each other alive in the wilderness as they are being hunted.

I understand what they were going for: An over the top 1980's throwback action flick. The problem is, no one seems to be in on the joke. Jackson completely overacts, and Ray Stevenson takes everything too seriously.

Omni Tommila seems to be the only one that understands what they're doing. The film is very fast paced, which is a relief. Once it gets going, it doesn't stop. The plot is pretty straightforward, and the "twist" is telegraphed a mile away, same with the ending.

But the action is solid. Its competently directed (just not competently acted) and often times exciting. Overall, it's a cheesy, decent film, but one I doubt I'll be revisiting again.
