Review of Big Fish (2003) by Julia B — 29 Jul 2012
Okay this film is why I respect Tim Burton. This is by far his best film to date. Tim Burton's other films lack the depth that this film has, it is a fantasy movie that tells of a man that exaggerates everything in his life and is a bit of a "Big Fish.
" This film takes place in the present where a father is sick and dying, and then transfers to the fathers life stories that are shown as very elaborate fantasies. The son gets frustrated with his father because he feels that everything his father has ever told him has been a story or worse a lie.
By the end of the film the son sees his father for who he is a "Big Fish" and realizes that their is a lot to love about him and that his stories will live on forever. The casting is perfect, you see the fathers life from a little boy to an old man, so the casting of the character had to flow so the audience could see the resemble.
The best part of the film is the end that ties everything together, I am not going to say anything in case anyone reads this. Please watch this film! It will make you cry, laugh, and even question. One of my favorites.
