Review of Big Fish (2003) by Thiago L — 31 Aug 2012
The film that I'll evaluate now, is a drama film from 2003 called Big Fish. It is directed by the great director Tim Burton, written by John August (based on the novel by Daniel Wallace) and produced by Richard D. Zanuck, the film's cast are actors Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Billy Crudup, Helena Bonham Carter, Marion Cotillard, Steve Buscemi and Danny DeVito.
The film tells the story of Edward Bloom, a kind and charismatic storyteller who is dying and doesn't have a good relationship with his son Will, for he did not believe his stories, but since Ed is dying, Will decides to spend more time with his father and try to know the real versions of their stories, which were not all lies.
Firstly, Big Fish have a smart, powerfull and undeniably beautiful script, the film explores the father-son relationship of the characters in a amazing way, and this added the firm direction of Tim Burton and the perfect edition by Chris Lebenzon, make this movie, a tale beautifully done, unforgettable, and with a surprising final, that many people will cry.
