Review of Big Fish (2003) by Eunhae Grace H — 14 Jun 2014
Knowing how you are going to die gives you courage to live boldly.
The father shared a story a vision of his death as a young boy, but in reality his son was the one to tell the tale of the father's death. The son and the father had an incredibly complex relationship. The son wanting to know the facts about the father, but the father telling the son truths about himself. Stories are lies -made-up- sharing truths. The son couldn't understand this until the very end of his fathers life; the analytical, factual son does what he hated his father doing, telling a story.
I love Burton wacky, unique way of twisting with the audience mind. This film is a thinker if you allow it to be.
