Review of Big Fish (2003) by Matthew D — 25 Jul 2018
One of Burton's best films is genuinely inventive with real character, things the director tries too hard for in many of his other films, but they rarely get beyond caricature. A story about the power of stories it could be seen as Burton's defence of himself, it doesn't matter if they aren't logical or realistic as long as they entertain.
The big fish metaphors get a little over played.
