Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Vanda K — 19 Apr 2015
Definitely an outstanding piece of the Burton-canon. A timely topic of women's oppression in the '50s at the dawn of feminism. Tim Burton this time managed to keep his trademark fascinating visual world subtler than usual making the movie much more appealing than say, Alice in Wonderland.
Christoph Waltz turns his initially charming character into the most repulsive sexist idiot in the world. Amy Adams is also shining in the role of the helpless wife and mother. I missed a bit more drama from the end because we know from the start what to expect as the solution.
