Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Matthew L — 30 Dec 2014
Big Eyes stars Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz as Margaret and Walter Keane who disputed over who was the artist of so called Big Eyes paintings during the late 50's and early 60's. It is directed by Tim Burton which I am happy to say does a great job here. it is not like one of his standard films in almost every way. The story of what.
Happened (which is based in fact) is very intriguing and also very weird st times. Adams gives a great performance as a silent but eventually headstrong women and Waltz as her smart and very cheeky husband. To wrap it up, Big Eyes is a renewal for Tim Burton and should not be overlooked even if it's not near perfect. If you want to see a movie about art, a revitalization of Burton, or just at times an insane Christoph Waltz then this movie is for you.
