Review of Big Daddy (1999) by Andy L — 30 May 2010
Big Daddy is an ok film where we see a mix of Happy Gilmore and Billy Madison trying to fill the roll of 'Dad'.
It is an ok comedy but leaves you thinking that you have seen it all before, some-what same jokes as Sandler's previous movies and he really struggles to break the mould of his previous characters. It had a continuim of annoying jokes such as 'hooters' it wasn't funny the first time it was said in the film so why would it be funny at the end of the film?
Dennis Dugan has never really amounted to anything with his movies so it's no surprise that this movie kind of doesn't make the fresh rating, although it is close. I think Dennis Dugan thought "Hey if I get a cute kid to do funny lines, surely this movie will be a hit!!'. Unfortunately for Dennis Dugan the kids is funny for 5 mins.
A little bit of a let-down. Nothing really special happens with lame acting and ok directing you get a mediocre movie that doesn't rise to the heights it inteded to.
Directing - 10/20.
Preformances - 12/20.
Visual/Special Effects - 5/20.
Musical Score - 10/20.
Entertainment - 9/20.
46% - It flirts between average and below average, with spirited preformances you still feel as if you have seen it before with Sandler.
