Review of Big (1988) by Scott M — 21 Feb 2014
"Big" is a charming enough coming-of-age drama mixed with a familiar enough "stranger in a strange body" mix that seems to be redone every few years, anchored down by a good performance from Tom Hanks in the lead role.
Hanks plays a 13 year old boy who wishes to be "big". Waking up as a 30 year old man, the boy flees to New York and gets a job in a toy company, shaking up the corporate structure until he inevitably gets homesick and aims to become a child once more.
Also featuring Elizabeth Perkins, Robert Loggia, John Heard and Jon Lovitz, "Big" is a fun movie with plenty of heart, that's too familiar to really be the classic it claims to be, but is still worth a watch.
