Review of Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) by Pumpkineck B — 08 Sep 2012
I think it is about technology and mind altering drug use to create the next step in human evolution. Possibly, somehow, they were combining people's souls or something. If you pause the movie when the woman finds the book, you see a fragment of a paragraph about drugs and telekinesis.
But, it alludes to aliens as well I thought, via the strange phone call and the baby / 7foot tall being. The crazy window licking mutant is possibly a failed combination of alien and human dna. Maybe it just couldn't handle the drugs effects on the physiology and psyche.
The lighted pyramid is some kinda of telekinetic dampening device, I guess. He turned the dial down and she popped that ladies eyes out! The ending was very anti climactic though. The gore was cool @ the end after long pauses in action.
Very vivid imagery. I am no critic on art, but it seemed well shot and lighted. The use of color and smoke looked sophisticated to me. The _ RUN PROGRAM > SENTIONAUTS _ sequence was bad ass! The music really kicked in.
It was rockin! Strange movie, I will watch it again...on WEED!
