Review of Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) by Poul F — 21 Sep 2012

Lures you in with promises of weird sci-fi oddity, then sedates you with its think oozing atmosphere and slow pace. Too bad the novelty isn't enough to carry an entire full-length feature. Once the spell inevitably wears off, you're hit with the realization that it's been 40 minutes and nothing has actually happened yet. Very little continues to happen for the rest of the movie, too. There's plenty of opportunity for personal interpretation, but it's not justification enough. You'll just be glad when this thing has finally lurched to its rather unrewarding conclusion.
