Review of Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010) by Tony H — 20 Nov 2012
Beyond the black rainbow is one of those films that is half good and half bad firstly the visual style of the film is incredible there is no denying that it has that art house look and the whole 80s vibe really adds to the atmosphere of the film, another thing that I really like about this film are characters even though there are only 2 main characters in the film firstly Barry Nyle.
Barry Nyle is one of those typical villains you would see in a old sci fi flick what makes Barry Nyle such a good villain is the way he is very calm and calculating in what he does, then there is Elena who has physic powers this sort of gives the film a superhero feel to it which I think is a good element, what I think the director has done with this movie is very clever panos comatos is a visionary filmmaker and is one those young talents that we rarely see in cinema overall I would highly recommend this film if you are a fan of those 80s sci fi movies or if you love cult films beyond the black rainbow is a feast for the eyes and cannot be ignored.
