While Beyond the Black Rainbow has an amazing visual style and an oppressive, terrifying atmosphere, it takes too long to get where it is going, and where it was going wasn't that much. There is a ton of potential and some really interesting ideas, they never really coalesce into a satisfying experience.

Absolutely no questions you have will be answered, and the ending is anticlimactic and bizarre. While I didn't "enjoy" it, I didn't dislike it. It's worth watching with a critical eye for the techniques and style Cosmatos uses, the average movie viewer should steer clear.
