Review of Beyond Re-Animator (2003) by Gary K — 03 Apr 2010
Not as well-plotted or darkly comic as the two earlier films, but the key elements are still in place: crazy Dr. West, his glowing green serum, a damsel in distress, and over-the-top gore effects. This time around, CGI effects are used to enhance some of the visuals, with mixed results.
The plot is familiar by now, but the few new twists add to the broader story. Let's hope a fourth film is in the works. Also worth noting: Elsa Pataky. She needs to be in more US films -- we're missing out, fellas.
