Review of Beyond Rangoon (1995) by Oliver B — 30 Jul 2007
I have watched this movie many times over, simply because of its affirmative performance by Patricia Arquette as a woman whose life is ripped apart by tragedy, who loses her will to live, and who is then thrust into political events during a trip to Burma which cause her to engage in the fight of her life FOR life.
Arquette's performance has been widely panned, but I personally think she perfectly captures the emotions a woman in her circumstances would go through. Her final catharsis is hard won and infinitely sweet.
