Review of Beyond Borders (2003) by Dwight F — 20 Mar 2009
What starts out as an informative touching movie (and no matter who you are it can get you) devolves later into a shallow meaningless love story. Clive Owen and Noah Emmerich are absolutely excellent. Angelina Jolie doesn't screw it up either and her part is less important than what's going on (until it devolves halfway through).
The story is slow with moments of excitement. While not completely entertaining it does make one look at their own life closely. Some people really need to see these things to understand. You could watch just the first half of the movie and get what you need but the very end has some tension - and even a Clive Owen sarcastic remark.
It does well in defining what true courage is (in the first half).
