Review of Best Worst Movie (2009) by Brad G — 05 Dec 2010
I really enjoyed this entertaining documentary about the film Troll 2 and the cult surrounding it. Directed by Michael Stephenson, who played the little boy in the original film, the film interviews most of the original cast, the Italian crew who made it (who spoke little to no English) and the large amount of fans who attend sold out midnight showings all around the country. One solider takes credit for introducing the film to Iraq.
I think it was smart of Michael Stephenson to focus most of the film around George Hardy, who played the father in the film. George Hardy (a dentist) has to be the most genuinely, nicest human being since Mr. Rogers (He gives free dental work to poor kids. Even his ex-wife has nothing but good things to say about him). You really feel some heartache for him during the bittersweet ending of this documentary.
Even if you haven't seen Troll 2 (and shame on you if you haven't, haha), this documentary is worth checking out. It's very hilarious and, surprisingly, very moving.
