Review of Best of Enemies (2015) by Nick D — 29 Dec 2015
Retelling a story that, surely by now, anyone with the faintest interest in the period has seen, the documentarians manage to build a bit of suspense through fine editing and the strategic reveal of the personalities behind actual broadcasts, used at length.
The finale, which is usually the only thing we get, shows who won, a bittersweet victory at best between two brilliant but very bitter people. The main contribution to the canon is this film's deeper dive into the Buckley side of the equation, as we have had numerous Vidal exhumations, not the least of them his own.
