Review of Beside Still Waters (2014) by Marie M — 30 Nov 2014
This movie is beautifully written. True, the friends reunion is not a new concept (but honestly, are there any truly new concepts in story-telling anymore?) but the emotion behind it strikes as genuine as the movie progresses from the awkward reunion of friends who have lost touch, to the outsider, to the falling back into old habits with old friends, all with an undertone of loss.
Another reason to watch this film is the amazingly beautiful cinematography. It was shot on film, and cut with super-8 footage and Chris Lowell's black and white photographs. This is definitely a movie that will become one of my classic favorites.
