Review of Bernie (2012) by Kyle T — 03 Feb 2013
I've long been a fan of JB, and it's a pleasure to see him taking on a role in which he can fulfil his dramatic potential. Linklater is an unpredictable filmmaker, and this documentary/dramatic retelling of the real life tale of Bernie Tiede continues that trend amiably.
Mcconaghy is a joy too; continuing his career reinvention following years of awful comedies derailed his chance to be a credible actor (see A Time to Kill). The film restores some lost credibility to two good actors and is perfectly entertaining if somewhat disjointed and a trifle odd.
