Review of Bernie (2012) by Halldor G — 25 Nov 2012
This movie is solid and manages to walk a delicate line when describing the life of Bernie, a god-loving, kind and gentle man who engaged with his community and who's generosity was renowned by the townspeople, and the temporary act of insanity that led him to murder a universally disliked, possessive, but at the end of the day still human, old woman.
The genius though comes in casting Jack Black as Bernie Tiede, and the surprise is to learn that Jack Black can act. This is one of the better performances I have seen this year and just goes to show how versatile actors can be when given the rig role and not named Kristen Stewart.
