Richard Linklater has fetched a great little film out of a bizarre true story. When Jack Black keeps his natural acting overtones under control -like here- is the greatest. Shirley's brill as usual, but McConaughey's splendid portrait of Danny Buck Davidson has been a refreshing surprise.
