There are funny parts, but the movie is definitely not one of Linklater's bests. This true story has already received a lot of news attention; in my opinion, the film would have been better had Linklater abandoned the faux-documentary style in favor of a more traditional narrative structure.
Which is a damn shame, because Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey are a joy to watch.
