Review of Bernie (2012) by Art S — 12 Feb 2013
Hardly a comedy, Bernie is one hell of a movie. Here is Jack Black at his finest, as most reviewers will agree. I understand that it is considered a dark or black comedy, but this could also fit into the drama genre with such heavy themes.
Don't get me wrong, the film is quite funny, but it isn't always going to make you laugh out loud, but rather smile and make you think, "wow, is this really happening?" It's got outstanding, realistic dialogue by the "interviewees" and a gripping, emotional performance by Jack Black.
Amazing watch. One of the best and surprisingly under the radar films of the year. Will make you question what's right, wrong, and when it is actually okay to kill.
