Done in the fashion of true crime shows, Bernie tells the story of Bernard Tiene, a very nice man who befriends a wealthy widow and then kills her. Using the money to help the community, Bernie influenced the people around him and they were shocked to see his crime.
The only real exciting part is the climax with the trial, as everything else is done in interview form. Jack Black gives one of the best performances of his career, and Shirley MacLaine and Matthew McConaughey back him up well in this black comedy.
