Review of Bernie (2012) by Huw G — 13 Oct 2014
Excellent movie. Richard Linklater's half-documentary, half-dark comedy is a smart, funny, incredibly acted work. Black gives one of his greatest performances in his career, being a different role in that it required a much more conserved performance in regards to raunch, but still manages to be strong in his outgoing role.
The supporting cast is great as well, MacLaine making it easy to dislike her character and maybe show why Bernie did what he did, and McConaughey is just a funny supporting character that displays some of the flaws in some of Texas citizens' ideals.
