Review of Benny & Joon (1993) by Daniel K — 02 Jul 2011
3: Much better than I thought it would be. I can see why this would have helped propel Johnny Depp into other, equally quirky, projects. I actually wish someone would have put him into a Buster Keaton biopic, as he certainly seems to have the character and mannerisms down pat.
It's a heartwarming and unique story essentially about a love triangle between a brother, his mentally ill sister, and the new strange houseguest. In the end everybody seems to live happily ever after, which seems entirely fitting with this fairly idyllic world.
