Not as bad a sequel as the later films, though not a masterpiece either. Beneath the Planet of the Apes continues in the same vein as the first, and was the last Planet of the Apes film that didn't feel like a total cash-in.
In all honesty, the film's ending should have ended the series. Too bad.
