Review of Bend of the River (1952) by Paris S — 07 Jun 2014
James Stewart's follow-up to his career changing performance in "Winchester '73," when he showed the world he could play tougher more violent of roles. Prior to his Anthony Mann westerns, Jimmy was primarily appearing in romantic comedies or other light fare.
In this film, Jimmy is leading a wagon train along the Oregon Trail and at trails end, he helps the settlers fend off some various baddies including Arthur Kennedy. Handsome gambler Rock Hudson also helps Jimmy.
And an interesting note of trivia, according to IMDB, this is the last tim in which Stewart had his own hair.
