Review of Bend It Like Beckham (2002) by Ken T — 08 Mar 2010
Bend It Like Beckham was an excellent movie. I thought that it was very interesting to see how her family reacted to her love for soccer. However, I do believe that this movie has a lot to do with stereotypes towards Indian families. While this may have been a true story, which I am unaware whether it is or not, it must have a huge impact on India families because it refers to their beliefs towards their children and what they are allowed to do or not. I think that it is a truly amazing movie, and I am so interesting every time I watch it, but I have to wonder if any other families actually believe the same things that this family believes, and if their children are not allowed to do the same things as this family. It would be really interesting, to me, if there are many different views on this topic, and whether is it completely based off of stereotyping or if it is a true story and families like this one have the same rules and beliefs. Please comment on what you think about this subject.
Thank you,.
