If I was being generous, I would say that this is appealing, fun and inspiring. It's just a major problem, then, that it's just so mediocre and cliched - it simply relies to heavily on its sweet nature, with nothing underneath and no real narrative.

I can understand what it's trying to do - it's a Bollywood-natured film within a British set-up and for that it is good - but it just fails to hold your attention long enough to actually give you any commentary on the social situations around us.
