It's not often I prefer a remake over the original movie. Ben Hur is an exception. I understand why the critics don't like it. It's too uplifting for people that prefer their movies dark and gritty.
Plus the message of the potential of forgiveness and changed lives due to the power of the cross of Christ is far too overt for any Hollywood critic to stomach. But if you're a Christian and you enjoy action packed movies with a positive message and a feel-good ending, then don't miss this.
