Review of Ben-Hur (2016) by Karl M — 15 Sep 2016
I struggled to give this film one star. I tried to watch with an open mind, but having read Lew Wallace's novel and having watched the 1959 masterpiece, I can only say, this film is truly execrable.
Choppy editing, pedestrian acting, and minimal character acting are not overcome by the chariot racing scene, which appeared designed to elicit maximum gore at the expense of maiming horses, albeit CGI.
Avoid this film: we suffered through it to spare others.
